Clear subjects with strong separation usually work best. Fine hair, transparent objects, crowded scenes and similar foreground/background colors can produce imperfect edges.

Common questions.

How do I make an image background transparent?

Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP photo and select Remove background. Inspect the cutout, keep Download background set to Transparent, and select Download PNG. The checkerboard shows transparent areas in the preview and is not included in the saved image.

Can I remove a background without uploading my photo to a server?

Yes. Your browser downloads the AI files, then processes the selected photo on your device. The photo is not sent to ToolNivo or an AI service. No account or API key is required, and no watermark is added to the result.

Can I change a photo background to white?

After removing the background, choose White under Download background, then download the PNG. For a product photo, review edges and small gaps before using the result. Fine or transparent objects may need further editing in another tool.

Why does the first run take longer?

Your browser loads the model and processing files before running the image. It may reuse cached files on later visits. No image is sent with these downloads.

Does it work on phones?

It can run in modern browsers with WebAssembly and Web Workers. Older or memory-limited devices may struggle. Try a smaller image or a recent desktop browser if processing fails.

Is the original image changed?

No. The tool creates a new PNG. Images larger than the processing limit are reduced while preserving their proportions, and the output dimensions are shown.

Can it remove any background perfectly?

No. The model estimates the main foreground. Always review the result, particularly around fine details and transparent materials. This version has no manual edge brush.
