Open Image CompressorReduce image file size
This compressor encodes a photo as JPEG or WebP at your chosen quality. It keeps the pixel dimensions, making it useful when you want a smaller file without resizing the image. Savings depend on the source format and how much it was already compressed.
How to compress a photo
Select an image, choose JPEG or WebP and start with the default 80% quality. Select Compress image, compare the two file sizes and inspect the preview. If fine detail looks damaged, increase quality and generate a new result.
Balance quality and size
Lower quality can reduce file size but may soften text, edges or textures. A compressed result is not always smaller than its source. The tool shows that explicitly rather than claiming a guaranteed reduction. Use Image Resizer first if you also need fewer pixels.
IMAGE COMPRESSOR
Common questions.
Will every image become smaller?
No. An already optimized image or a tiny graphic can produce a larger output. Try lower quality or another format, and keep the original if the result is unsuitable.
Can I compress a transparent PNG?
You can select PNG and export WebP to retain transparency when supported. JPEG fills transparent areas with white. This tool does not offer lossless PNG optimization.
Are there upload or API fees?
No paid API is used. Compression runs in the browser with a 15 MB and 24-megapixel input limit. Only the website code is downloaded.
