An outline can separate lettering from a background, but excessive outlines reduce the open space inside letters. The right treatment depends on the font, size, and image underneath it.
Start with the unoutlined label
Choose a readable typeface and good placement first. If the text already stands out, an outline may add visual weight without improving clarity. Do not use it automatically on every word.
Compare modest variations
Try a thin outline and a slightly thicker one at the actual output scale. Watch the counters inside letters such as a, e, and B. When these spaces close, the label becomes harder to recognize despite its stronger edge.
Inspect the export
Compression can change how the outline appears. Review the finished file against both light and dark parts of the background. If readability still fails, move the text or simplify the image rather than stacking more effects. Keep one treatment consistent across the label unless a difference has a clear purpose.
