Open Password GeneratorWhat is a Password Generator?
A password generator creates a new sequence of characters without asking you to invent a pattern. ToolNivo combines the character types you choose using your browser’s cryptographic random source. It is a generator, not a password manager: it does not keep a vault or recover a password after you leave.
This free random password generator supports lengths from 4 to 128 characters. The default is 20 characters with lowercase letters, uppercase letters, numbers and symbols enabled. Every selected type appears at least once.
How to Generate a Strong Password
- Open the generator. A random password appears at the top.
- Choose a length with the slider or minus and plus buttons. For ordinary accounts, aim for at least 16 characters when the service allows it.
- Enable the character types accepted by the website. Changing a setting generates a new password.
- Review the strength estimate, then press Copy Password when you are ready.
- Save the password in your password manager and use it for only one account.
Generate / Refresh produces a fresh result with the same settings. If all character types are disabled, generation stops and explains what to change.
Password Generator Features
- Adjustable length from 4 to 128 characters, with keyboard-friendly controls.
- Independent lowercase, uppercase, number and symbol switches.
- Web Crypto randomness with unbiased character selection.
- A strength estimate based on length and enabled character sets.
- Explicit copying only, plus a Clear button to remove the displayed result.
- No registration, API key or installed application required.
The tool uses printable ASCII characters for broad compatibility. Check each service’s maximum length and permitted symbols before saving a new password.
Password Security Tips
Use a different password for each account. Avoid shortening a generated password into a familiar word or appending your birthday. A longer random password provides more possible combinations, but it cannot protect you from entering it into a phishing page.
Keep passwords in a trusted password manager and enable multi-factor authentication where available. Use this generator on a device you trust. Clipboard managers and device synchronization can retain text after you copy it; the Clear button does not erase your system clipboard.
For compatible accounts, the 2FA Code Generator is a separate tool that requires your valid TOTP secret. A password and a one-time authentication code serve different purposes.
Local Generation and Privacy
Passwords are generated locally in your browser and are never sent to our servers. The generator workspace contains no advertising, analytics, external libraries or API calls. It does not save generated passwords in cookies or browser storage, and it does not put them in a URL.
Opening the page still requests ordinary website files from ToolNivo. Generating or refreshing a password does not require a network request. Once copied, the password is handled by your device’s clipboard. Closing or reloading the page loses the displayed password; JavaScript cannot guarantee forensic erasure from device memory.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this password generator free?
Yes. Generate passwords without an account, payment or API key.
Are passwords saved or sent to ToolNivo?
No. Generation happens in the workspace in your browser. There is no password history, backend generation or automatic storage. Copying is only triggered by your button press.
What do the strength labels mean?
Weak, Medium, Strong and Very Strong are estimates for this generator’s random output. They use the number of possible valid passwords for your settings: below 40 bits, 40–59 bits, 60–79 bits, and 80 bits or more. These are tool-specific categories, not a promise of security or an estimate of cracking time.
Why allow short passwords if they can be weak?
Some services have restrictive requirements. The 4-character minimum supports such constraints, but short results are labeled accordingly. Use a longer password whenever possible.
Does every selected character type appear?
Yes. The generator rejects a random candidate if it lacks a selected type, then draws another candidate. Turning off every type stops generation with a clear message.
Does this work on a phone?
The controls support current mobile and desktop browsers with Web Crypto. Copying may need HTTPS and clipboard permission. If automatic copy is blocked, the tool selects the password for manual copying.
Can I recover an old password?
No. ToolNivo does not save your results. Save the chosen password in your password manager before refreshing or leaving.
Will I get a unique password every time?
Each generation makes a fresh random draw. A repeat is mathematically possible, especially with short settings; uniqueness is not guaranteed. Never intentionally reuse a password across accounts.
