How to convert HEIC to JPG
- Choose your images. Select HEIC or HEIF files from your device, or drag them into the upload area.
- Set JPEG quality. Start with 90 for a high-quality copy. Lower the slider if you prefer a smaller file.
- Convert the batch. Press Convert to JPG. Each image has its own status, so you can see which files succeeded.
- Check and download. Review the previews and dimensions. Download individual JPGs, or save a ZIP containing all completed results.
What is a HEIC file?
HEIC commonly stores a still image compressed with HEVC inside the HEIF container, short for High Efficiency Image File Format. Many iPhone photos use this format to reduce storage requirements. A .heif extension can also describe files with other characteristics; not every variant can be decoded by every converter.
Why convert HEIC to JPG?
JPG is useful when a website, document workflow or recipient cannot open HEIC. Make a compatible copy for a form, a presentation or sharing, while keeping the original for your photo library. This tool actually decodes the image and encodes JPEG data; changing the filename alone would not convert it.
HEIC vs JPG
| Feature | HEIC / HEIF | JPG output here |
|---|---|---|
| Compatibility | Depends on the device and installed codecs | Widely supported by apps and websites |
| Compression | Efficient storage, depending on encoding | Lossy JPEG with adjustable quality |
| Transparency | May include an alpha channel | Flattened onto white |
| Extra data | May contain HDR, depth, metadata or several images | One 8-bit still image, without copied camera metadata |
Photo quality and orientation
The converter retains displayed pixel dimensions up to its limit. HEIF rotation and mirroring are applied during decoding; EXIF orientation is used when those HEIF transformations are absent. Rotation can swap width and height without resizing the photo.
JPEG is lossy, including at the highest quality setting. HDR and wide-gamut color appearance may change in this 8-bit workflow, and it does not preserve depth maps, Live Photo video or every image in a collection. Keep your original HEIC files for archival or editing work.
Browser processing and privacy
Your selected photos and generated JPGs stay in the browser. A dedicated worker performs the conversion, one image at a time. Static converter code is downloaded from ToolNivo when needed, but there is no photo upload, paid API or server-side conversion.
The page does not load analytics or advertising scripts alongside your files. Temporary decoder memory is released after each image. Results remain available for download until you remove them, reset or leave. The tool does not automatically save images or drafts to browser storage.
Batch limits and unsupported files
You can select up to 20 files, with 20 MB per file and 80 MB of queued inputs. Each image must be at most 16 megapixels. Ready JPGs are limited to 64 MB in total; download and remove completed results to free space before retrying more images. These limits are safeguards, not a guarantee that every phone has enough memory.
A damaged or unsupported HEIC/HEIF variant receives an error instead of a fake JPG. Try exporting that photo from your original Photos application. Extremely large images are rejected rather than resized silently.
More Image Tools
For other formats, use the Image Converter. Adjust dimensions with Image Resizer, reduce an existing JPG with Image Compressor, or combine converted photos using Images to PDF.

HEIC TO JPG HELP
Your questions,
answered.
How do I convert HEIC to JPG?
Choose your HEIC or HEIF files, select JPEG quality and press Convert to JPG. After processing, download each JPG or use Download All for a ZIP of the successful results.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. This page decodes and converts your selected images inside a browser worker. It downloads static converter code, but does not upload photos, filenames or converted JPGs. It does not save your photos in browser storage.
Can I convert several iPhone photos together?
Yes. Select up to 20 images. The tool processes them one at a time so one failed image does not stop the rest. The limits are 20 MB per input, 80 MB of selected inputs, 16 megapixels per image and 64 MB of ready JPG results. Available device memory can still be insufficient.
Does it keep the original dimensions and orientation?
The tool does not resize supported images. It applies HEIF rotation and mirror properties and uses EXIF orientation when those properties are absent. A portrait rotation can swap the stored width and height. Images above the pixel limit are rejected rather than silently reduced.
Will converting reduce quality?
JPEG is lossy. A higher quality setting usually preserves more visual detail but creates a larger file. Conversion cannot restore missing detail. HDR, wide-gamut profiles, depth data and exact original color appearance are not preserved by this 8-bit JPEG workflow.
Does it keep Live Photos and metadata?
It exports the primary still image from each file. Live Photo video, image sequences, extra images, camera metadata and GPS information are not copied. Keep your originals if you need these features.
Why is a HEIC file unsupported?
HEIF is a container with different codecs and variants. A corrupt file, unsupported codec, unusually large image or memory shortage can prevent decoding. The tool reports an error instead of renaming the file or claiming success. Export a compatible JPG from your Photos application if needed.
Can I use it on iPhone, Android or a computer?
It is designed for modern browsers with WebAssembly, Web Workers and HTTPS. Device memory and browser restrictions affect compatibility. On some phones, downloading opens a save or share interface. Save the results before closing or resetting the page.
Can I change quality after a conversion?
The slider applies to the next queued or retried images. A completed JPG keeps the quality shown beside it. To convert that original again at another quality, remove its result and select the original HEIC again.
