Make it your MP3

A higher bitrate does not improve audio that was low-quality to begin with.

Invalid filename characters are replaced automatically.

Convert MP4 to MP3 online

An MP4 usually combines video and audio in one file. If you only need the sound, this converter reads the first audio track and creates a separate MP3. It works with a file you select from your own device; it is not a video-link downloader.

How to convert MP4 to MP3

  1. Select your MP4. Use Upload MP4 or drag one video into the upload area. Check the file information and device limits.
  2. Choose an audio bitrate. Start with 192 kbps or select another option to suit your listening needs and file-size preference.
  3. Name your output. Keep the suggested name or enter your own. The result uses the .mp3 extension.
  4. Convert and save. Select Convert to MP3, wait for the local conversion, then preview and download the audio.

Approximate MP3 sizes, excluding small header differences
BitrateApprox. size per minuteTrade-off
128 kbps0.96 MBSmaller files for speech or everyday listening
192 kbps1.44 MBA balanced starting point
256 kbps1.92 MBMore data for encoding complex audio
320 kbps2.40 MBLargest supported MP3 bitrate

MP3 compression is lossy. Selecting 320 kbps does not restore detail missing from the original recording or remove noise. The output uses a 44.1 kHz sample rate; mono and stereo sources keep their channel count, while multi-channel audio is mixed to stereo.

Why extract audio from MP4?

Save a lecture for listening during a commute, keep the sound from your own interview, or turn a recorded presentation into an audio reference. An MP3 leaves out the picture and is often smaller than its source video. Use recordings you own or have permission to convert.

Browser-based conversion and privacy

ToolNivo uses a bundled FFmpeg WebAssembly converter in a browser worker. It decodes and encodes the audio without transcoding the video stream. Converter assets download only when you start; browser caching may reduce repeat downloads.

Your selected video, filename and generated audio are not uploaded or written to cookies, analytics or browser storage. Temporary conversion memory is released when its worker ends. Removing or replacing a file releases its preview and download URLs. Keep a downloaded copy of the MP3 before leaving this page.

The limit shown in the tool is 25 MB / 10 minutes on mobile or lower-memory devices and 100 MB / 30 minutes on other devices. A device may still run out of memory below those limits. Cancel remains available while the converter runs, and there is no automatic server-upload fallback.

MP4 TO MP3 HELP

Your questions,
answered.

How do I convert MP4 to MP3?

Select an MP4 from your device, choose an MP3 bitrate and select Convert to MP3. When conversion finishes, listen to the audio preview and use Download MP3 to save the file.

Is the MP4 to MP3 converter free?

Yes. This ToolNivo converter is free and needs no account or paid API. Your browser downloads the converter assets on first use and performs the audio conversion locally.

Can I convert MP4 to 320 kbps MP3?

Yes. Choose 320 kbps before converting. The tool also supports 128, 192 and 256 kbps. A higher bitrate produces a larger file; it cannot restore detail missing from the original audio.

Does converting MP4 to MP3 reduce quality?

MP3 is a lossy format. Encoding audio to MP3 can discard detail, especially if the source was already compressed. The 192 kbps default balances file size and listening quality, but the right choice depends on your source and needs.

Can I extract only the audio from an MP4?

Yes. The converter selects the first audio track and encodes it as MP3 without transcoding the video stream. Mono stays mono, stereo stays stereo, and audio with more channels is downmixed to stereo. The MP4 must contain a usable audio track.

Are my videos uploaded to a server?

No. The video is read into browser memory and converted locally. Only static website and converter assets are downloaded. ToolNivo does not upload, log or store the selected video, filename or generated audio.

What are the file-size and duration limits?

The limit shown by the tool is 25 MB and 10 minutes of audio on mobile or lower-memory devices, or 100 MB and 30 minutes on other devices. These are safeguards, not guarantees: available memory and browser support still affect conversion.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

It is designed for modern browsers with WebAssembly and Web Workers. Some mobile devices may not have enough available memory. Use a smaller video if conversion stops. On iOS, saving may open the browser’s audio or share interface; use Save to Files if offered.

Why did conversion fail?

An MP4 can be corrupted, incomplete, protected or contain an unsupported audio codec. A video without audio cannot produce an MP3. A slow connection can also prevent the converter assets from loading. Try Again reloads the converter; there is no server-upload fallback.
