Open File to PDF

Troubleshoot rejected files, conversion timeouts and missing PDF downloads by checking the source format, displayed limits and browser behavior.

Start with the exact message

A rejected file, a slow conversion and a completed PDF that opens in a new tab are different situations. Read the status message before retrying. Repeated clicks cannot add support for an unsupported format and may make it harder to understand what has happened.

ToolNivo supports DOCX, TXT, MD, CSV, JSON, LOG, JPG, JPEG, PNG, WebP and BMP. Older DOC, spreadsheet and presentation formats, archives and videos are not accepted by this converter. Renaming an unsupported file does not change its actual contents. Export a supported copy using the application that created it.

Check the relevant limit

The input limit is 10 MB per file. Text is also limited to 100,000 characters, images to 36 megapixels, and output to 40 pages. These checks measure different things. A small compressed picture can still have very large pixel dimensions, while a compact text file can produce many pages because of its line breaks.

For DOCX, embedded images and internal components may expand well beyond the stored file size. Simplify a copy of the source or split the material into smaller documents. Keep the original intact while you experiment.

Resolve decoding and timeout problems

If a text file is rejected for encoding, save a copy as UTF-8 and verify that the characters look right before retrying. Password-protected or damaged DOCX files need attention in a word processor. For a timeout, close unnecessary heavy tabs and try a smaller supported file in a recent full browser.

The tool does not send the document to a server as a fallback. A successful conversion therefore depends partly on the visitor's device and browser resources.

Recover a completed download

If the PDF opens instead of saving, use the viewer or browser's save action and check Downloads. Keep the conversion tab open until you have saved the result. After downloading, reopen the actual file and inspect its final page. Reset removes the active conversion from the webpage; it does not delete the source or previously saved copies, and it cannot recover a PDF that was never downloaded.
