TOOLNIVO IMAGE GUIDE

HEIC to JPG Converter Errors: A Practical Fix Checklist

If a HEIC to JPG converter fails, first identify the stage: selecting the file, loading the decoder, decoding the image or saving the result. These failures have different causes. A quality change will not repair a corrupt source or add support for an unknown codec.

The file is rejected before conversion

Check that the file is not empty and is an actual HEIC or HEIF. ToolNivo examines the file signature; it does not trust a renamed extension. A JPEG renamed to photo.heic is still a JPEG and belongs in the general Image Converter instead.

ToolNivo rejects an input over 20 MB. Duplicate content is skipped even if the second copy has a different name. If nothing new appears after selection, read the status message: you may already have that photo in the current list.

The decoder cannot load

A connection problem, browser restriction or blocked program asset can prevent loading. Check that the page is fully loaded over HTTPS and use a current browser. Retry once after the connection is restored. The tool does not silently upload your image as a fallback.

This failure differs from a damaged photo. If every file fails before decoding begins, try a small known-good HEIC. If that also fails, changing the photograph repeatedly is unlikely to fix a missing converter asset.

The image cannot be decoded

Unsupported or incomplete source

HEIF can contain different codecs and structures. A .heic filename is not a guarantee that this decoder supports its contents. If the file transfer was interrupted, obtain a complete original. If it opens in your photo application, export a compatible JPG there rather than repeatedly retrying the same unsupported input.

Memory or pixel limits

Images above 16 megapixels are rejected without being reduced silently. For a memory error below that limit, close heavy applications, try one file at a time or move to another device. Keep any successfully converted files; one failed photo does not invalidate the rest of a batch.

The JPG looks wrong or cannot be found

Compare the preview with the source. A narrow thumbnail may simply fit a portrait photo into a small box. Open the downloaded JPG before judging its dimensions. If it is genuinely sideways, keep the original and try a native export; do not repeatedly rotate and re-encode copies without checking them.

Different HDR or wide-gamut appearance is a separate issue from rotation. This converter creates 8-bit JPEGs without preserving those original features. The quality guide explains why a higher slider value does not restore them.

If the preview is correct but there is no saved file, press Download JPG and complete the browser’s save prompt. Follow the normal conversion walkthrough for that final step.

Frequently asked questions

Will lowering quality fix an unsupported HEIC variant?

No. The decoder must first understand the source before the JPEG quality setting can be used.

Why does one batch image fail while the others work?

It may have different dimensions, an unsupported encoding or damaged data. Each file is processed independently.

Can the converter recover a zero-byte photo?

No. A zero-byte file contains no image data to decode; recover or export the original again.
