Open Background Remover

Understand the first-run download for local AI background removal and distinguish model loading from image processing.

Two separate jobs happen

The browser first loads the files that enable background removal. It then uses those files to process the photo on your device. In this ToolNivo implementation, the lightweight model and runtime total roughly 16 MB before transfer compression. That is program data; it is not the size of your photo or a collection of previous results.

A fast network helps with loading, while the device's processing capability affects the next stage. Improving Wi-Fi will not necessarily make an already loaded model calculate much faster. Likewise, a powerful computer still needs access to the model files on its first visit.

Read the status before restarting

The tool distinguishes downloading, starting the engine and separating the subject. Let each stage finish. Refreshing during the download or closing the tab abandons the current operation. A normal browser cache may reduce repeat downloads, but private browsing, cache clearing and hosting cache rules can change this behavior. Do not assume that every future visit will work offline.

Plan for limited connections

If you are using metered mobile data, perform the first run when an appropriate connection is available. A failed connection should produce an error rather than a fake cutout. Once the result appears, inspect it and download the PNG; a completed progress indicator only confirms processing, not perfect subject selection. If loading repeatedly fails, try again in a full browser with a stable connection. The photo remains local even when loading the program files fails.
