Distinguish useful contact shadows from unwanted background remnants when preparing a product cutout for a new composition.

Separate object from presentation

A contact shadow helps show that an object rests on a surface. It is not the object itself, and an automatic foreground model may remove it, keep part of it or leave an uneven dark patch. Decide whether your destination needs a floating cutout or a grounded product image before treating every dark pixel as an error.

Inspect the base of the item

Compare the original and result along the point where the product meets the floor or table. Check that the sole, base or feet remain intact. A soft shadow should not be mistaken for a solid piece of the product. Equally, removing the shadow should not erase the dark lower edge of the object.

For a bottle on a shelf, an uneven retained shadow may look acceptable on white but become a gray stain on a bright colored layout. Test the destination color before exporting a finished version.

Build a consistent final scene

For a clean transparent asset, use manual refinement if remnants remain important. Add any new shadow in your composition editor, matching the scene's light direction and softness. ToolNivo does not generate realistic replacement shadows. Do not preserve a shadow pointing left while placing the item into a scene whose other shadows point right. Keeping a transparent master makes later presentation choices easier without changing the original cutout.
