Glossy products can reflect the room, camera, or a bright light source. The goal is to reveal the object's form and useful details without a glare patch dominating the image.
Move the light or object
Try changing the angle before changing exposure dramatically. A small rotation can move a reflection away from a label or screen. Use a larger, softer light source when available to make transitions less harsh.
Watch what is reflected
Check for personal information, faces, or clutter visible in shiny surfaces. Clean the object and inspect fingerprints, which can become surprisingly prominent in a close-up.
Review the reduced image
Some reflections help communicate material, while others obscure identity. Keep the highlights that describe the shape and reduce those that hide the subject. Compare the photo at normal thumbnail size before adding text. Preserve the clean source so later design changes do not require extensive retouching of avoidable glare.
